"Untitled"

Before you became a flower, you were a seed, the warm
sun gently encouraging you to emerge from the ground.
You were the beautiful life underground that would remain
unseen for countless days until you decided to show yourself.
You sat there patiently waiting for the right moment.
And when you appeared out of the earth you slowly
blossomed into the beautiful flower I knew you would be.
You became the most alluring flower in the field.
You stayed true to yourself throughout every storm.
Standing tall with your face warmed by the sun
and your roots nourished by the tears of the storm.
You became the only positive thing in that little girl's
life. She came to the field every day after school and
picked one petal off of your beautiful face. One by one,
your long journey of becoming a flower was over.
There would be no more of you... but your seeds
remain to see another storm.
